Restored, Detached Cottage, Domfront, Normandy
2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 4
Private garden and covered parking

Attractive detached stone cottage, set
amid beautiful countryside with forest nearby, yet the medieval town
of Domfront and its ruined chateau ramparts are visible from the garden.
The house is typical of the area – stone and colombage. Guests
particularly like the peacefulness and space provided with the property.
The location is rural but medieval Domfront itself has an interesting
history – William the Conqueror being one of its former visitors! Along
with the chateau ramparts and the far reaching views the town has many
old buildings, squares and two beautiful churches – all worth exploring.
One of the many towns nearby includes the Spa town of Bagnoles de L’Orne
which has shops, casino, outdoor swimming pool, a large lake plus ‘tea
shops’ and restaurants.
The forest d’Andaines to the north of Domfront covers several miles and
has many walks and picnic spots. This region is famous for its apple and
pear cider and calvados – tasting of the same is not to be missed!
Steeped in history, there are many interesting towns including Lonlay
L’Abbaye, Lassay les Chateau, St. Hilaire, Fourgeres and many of these
hold weekly markets. Wonderful beaches are to be found just over an hour
away and these include St. Malo, Le Mont St. Michel plus Cancale (noted
for its oysters). The notorious Normandy beaches i.e. Juno etc. are also
just over an hour away and several ports including Caen are within easy
reach.
The cottage has been recently
restored and sleeps four people; it is situated only 4 minutes drive from
Domfront with its shops, supermarkets, “patisseries” and restaurants. It
is an ideal base for a variety of holiday tastes i.e. to relax and
unwind, touring lovely villages, towns, cities and countryside or for
hunting the “French Dream!’
The sitting room has a stone & brick fireplace, and is, spacious,
comfortably furnished and has many old beams. There is a DVD/CD player.
The kitchen/diner includes a gas cooker, fridge, washing machine and
microwave. Upstairs there are two bedrooms with twin beds and two
bathrooms - one bedroom has an en-suite. Both bedrooms have cupboards
providing shelving and hanging space. There are electric heaters in the
sitting room, kitchen and bedrooms.
Outside
There is a private garden with grassed area, table, chairs and covered
parking.
