La Vallee, La Ferriere-Harang, Nr. St Martin
Des Besaces, Normandy,
Newly Renovated Cottage, 4 Bedrooms,
Sleeps 8
Swimming Pool
This is a stunning newly renovated
cottage, in a quiet rural spot yet close to a busy village with a
full range of shops. Set in its own grounds of over an acre, it has 4
bedrooms and two bathrooms, to sleep up to 8 in comfort.
The cottage was renovated from a shell in the winter of 2008, and now
has a new kitchen / dining room, with a large dining table to seat 8,
all new kitchen units, with dishwasher, fridge, microwave etc. The
separate lounge has oak beams, and patio doors to the front. It has
plenty of comfy sofas and armchairs, and you have English satellite TV.
The first of the bedrooms is a double room on the ground floor. On the
first floor is the master bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite,
plus two large twin rooms and a large family bathroom. All rooms are
new, with both bathrooms new in 2009. The bedrooms are light and airy
with the original oak beams on display, and all new double glazed
windows.
To the front of the house is plenty of parking, a BBQ and table and
chairs, to help you enjoy this peaceful gite, which is south facing and
has the sun all day long. We have installed an above ground swimming
pool in the back garden, with a lawned area, which is private and quiet.
We are sure that the whole family will enjoy their holiday with us at La
Vallee.
The cottage is a short Drive from the D
Day beaches and the historic sites from the battle of Normandy. The
local village has its own museum which tells the story of the liberation
of the area, which is well worth a visit. The drive to the coast takes
you through small villages, and along country lanes, with apple farms to
visit and try the local cider, and cheese makers, and even a pigeon
farm. All open to the public.
The River Vire runs close by, and we can recommend a days canoeing on
the river where you travel up to 12km down stream before a welcome
return by coach to your car. You get to see the stunning river valley,
and descend the small rapids and weirs on route.
There is an adventure park only 2 miles away, with the worlds first
permanent bungee jump, a 100km an hour zip line down the river valley,
and a testing tree top climb which teenagers will love. Several visitors
to us have paid a few euros to bungee jump, which is not for the faint
hearted. Jumping takes place every day in the summer, and large crowds
go just to watch, and enjoy the bar and restaurant on site.
France is famous for its markets and the local towns have good ones to
visit, plus excellent family restaurants to enjoy the local fare.
In the cottage is plenty of tourist information to ensure a memorable
holiday for the whole family
