Kermartin cottage is set in a secluded corner close to the historic town
of Gouarec. It is just two minutes walk from the Nantes-Brest canal and
five minutes easy walk from Gouarec town and local shops; supermarket,
chemist, banks, post office, bars and restaurants. It is just 10
minutes drive to Lac de Guerledan and the historic Abbaye de Bon Repos.
The cottage is situated close to the canal towpath for walking or
cycling and bikes can be hired locally. You can also hire canoes for use
on the canal or at the Lac de Guerledan where you can also swim, water
ski or hire pedalos. The lake has walks around it and there are safe
beaches, restaurants and bars on its shores. The creperie at Beau Rivage
hires out small motor boats and also arranges fishing permits. The
beaches of the north coast of Brittany are 45 minutes drive away and the
south coast beaches take a little longer to reach. Like Cornwall,
Brittany is a peninsular so the weather can be wet on one coast and
sunny on the other so you can usually find some good weather. Kermartin
is superbly situated for visiting the megalithic site of Carnac and the
chateaux of Josselin, Quintin, Pontivy, Trevarez, Kerjean, Roche Jagu
and Suscinio. Oceanopolis is a 'must see' if you are interested in
marine life. It is near Brest and has three zones to visit. Polar,
Temperate, and Tropical. If shopping is your favourite then Rennes and
Nantes have lovely shops and closer, Pontivy offers individual shops
with a good choice of items and a market on Mondays.
Kermartin cottage is a modern property all on one level, making it Ideal
for the less mobile. Large picture windows afford views of the garden
from all rooms.
It offers a large sitting/dining room with a well appointed kitchen,
having a full size oven and hob, fridge, microwave, and washing machine.
There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two singles.
The bathroom has a bath with separate shower and there is a separate
toilet.
The very large gardens extend to over an acre and afford magnificent
views across the surrounding countryside. There are terraces on both the
south and west sides of the cottage.
The gardens are sheltered and secluded, and there is garden furniture
and a BBQ.
There is good, private parking.
