Newly Refurbished Studio in the vines. There are things to do in Provence for all ages, stages and interests – including golf, canoeing in the Ardeche, horse riding in and around the villages and through the vineyards, and rock-climbing. If you fancy emulating Lance Armstrong, you can cycle up Mt. Ventoux or just drive up and have a wonderful walk and perhaps a picnic, with views across to the Alps, or ski and snowboard in the winter. Wherever you are based in Provence, you will find yourself surrounded by sights of historical and architectural importance, spanning the centuries. South of Avignon, the world heritage site of the Pont du Gard is an amazing feat of Roman engineering. Designed to carry the water across the small Gardon river valley, it was part of a nearly 50 km (31 mi) aqueduct that brought water from springs near Uzès to the Roman city of Nemausus (Nîmes). The main chateaux in the Drôme Provencal are in Montelimar (also home to delicious Montelimar nougat), Grignan and Suze la Rousse. Accommodation: Newly restored and refurbished 42sq.m ground floor studio, 500m from the village of Cairanne. The studio forms part of the owner’s house, with its own terrace, parking area, etc. but well away from the rest of the house. There is a large comfortable double bedroom space separated from the rest of the studio by low wall, shower room with wc. There is a well equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, cooker with oven, dining area, and spacious sitting area with Satellite TV, dvd, cd, wifi. Washing machine available. From the sofa (which converts to double sofa bed) you can relax with a glass of local wine, and enjoy views of the surrounding vineyards, and the perched wine producing village of Cairanne.
Outside is a private terrace, with olive tree, pots of fresh herbs, etc.
and a lovely old platane tree for shady lunchtime eating. Table, chairs,
parasols, BBQ etc. complete the comfortable outside space, with views to
the village and vines. There are some great restaurants in the area – and of course there are many small cafes in the villages for simple lunchtime meals. There is at least one market with fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, fish etc. virtually each day of the week in Provence – so you are always able to get fresh produce should you enjoy cooking for yourself. In summer, Provence is the land of festivals and in the Heart of Provence area, music reigns supreme. Summer provides a wide selection of festivals.....Orange hosts an annual music festival in July and August, Vaison la Romaine has a fantastic dance festival each year, and the medieval city of Avignon, which was home to the Popes in the 14th century. hosts Europe's biggest theatre festival in July, with plays, dance, music and street theatre from all over the world.
Very convenient for travelling to Marseille, Avignon, Nimes or
