Lovely village house in medieval quarter of
St Féliu d’avall. St Féliu sits in the valley of the river Têt with easy access to the N116: westerly to the ski resorts in the high Pyrenees and Andorra, and easterly to the clean, golden, sweeping beaches of the Mediterranean – Canet Plage, the marina and beaches of St Cyprien and the chic marina and Blue-Flag beaches of Argeles-sur-mer. Céret, 25 minutes to the south, is the cherry capital of France and also famous for the Museum of Modern Art, with paintings by Picasso and Chagall. The Spanish border is a 30 minute drive. Perpignan, the capital of the Pyrenees Orientales is a mere 15 minutes drive to the centre. The city has many boutiques, restaurants and lively, atmospheric cafés. To suit all tastes, there is often music and live performances in the ancient streets and squares. St Féliu is surrounded by orchards; predominantly peach, nectarine and apricot and, of course, countless vineyards and caves of the Roussillon within a stone’s throw. If you like to relax, away from the ‘phone and email accounts, you can stay ‘at home’, lounging on the terrace, reading and dozing, eating al-fresco and having a barbecue. You don’t need to drive to the supermarket – all provisions are in the village. You can do any number of outdoor activities – walking, climbing, bird-watching, cycling, swimming, horse-riding, kayaking, canyoning, rafting, skiing, dog-sledding, skating, tennis, badminton, visiting sites of historical importance – forts, castles and museums, wind-surfing, golf, snorkelling, scuba-diving, water-skiing etc. Activities for the younger members of the family include: a wildlife reserve, an aquarium, a valley of tortoises, adventure parks, water parks, a go-carting track. If you have a particular interest we would be delighted to research it and are on hand to help arrange things.
