Le Quesnay,
St-Clair-sur-Elle, Near St-Lô, Normandy The nearest village to Le Quesnay, St-Clair-sur-Elle, provides all the daily needs, having two boulangeries, a charcuterie, supermarket, post office, chemist and doctor's surgery. St-Lô is only six miles away, with a full range of shops, supermarkets, some excellent restaurants and a Saturday market. Le Quesnay is within half an hour's drive of the Normandy landing beaches and the beautiful historic city of Bayeux. Le Mont St Michel, la Suisse Normande and cliff walks in the Cotentin Peninsula are all within easy reach. For the sports minded, there is tennis, cycling, golf, horse riding and kayaking nearby. The area is renowned for its wildlife and its sea and river fishing. There are also activity parks, zoological gardens, many châteaux and historical sites close by. The forest of Cerisy is only ten minutes away. As a break from driving, there are regular train services from Lison (five minutes away), to Cherbourg, Bayeux, Paris and Rouen. Le Quesnay is an 18th century farmhouse, set within four acres of gardens and rolling Normandy countryside. The three gites have been fully modernised yet retain many original features - oak beams and exposed stonework. They are comfortably furnished and have been newly decorated. The kitchens are fully equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine etc. (There is a dishwasher in Jennie and Ella). All have CD players, cassette players and video players. Outside, each gite has its own private garden, with patio area, table and chairs, and barbecue. There is also a children's play area and a games room with table tennis, darts and snooker. Ella (sleeps 4) This is a spacious one bedroom gite. Downstairs there is a large open plan lounge/dining room and kitchen; two large chairs open into very comfortable single beds. A wooden staircase leads to the generous double bedroom. Bathroom with shower, bath, toilet and wash hand basin.
La Boulangerie (sleeps 4) This was the bakery for the farm and the bread oven can still be seen. Downstairs there is an open plan lounge/dining room and kitchen, and a large bathroom with toilet, shower, bath and wash hand basin. Upstairs there is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom.
Jennie (sleeps 8) This was a large stone barn, which has been converted into a most attractive large gite. The original beams have been retained. The gite is on one level with only four steps up to two of the bedrooms. The accommodation comprises a large open plan lounge/dining room and kitchen, one double bedroom and three twin bedrooms. The bathroom has toilet, shower, bath and wash hand basin, and there is a second separate toilet and wash hand basin. |
