Benet is a mile from the once fortified village of Laurac le Grand, and near to two world-protected monuments, the walled city of Carcassonne (30 minutes drive) and the Canal du Midi (10 minutes) and 20 minutes from the medieval town square of Mirepoix with a superb market. The farm is near the foothills of the Pyrenees ---where you can explore the Cathar castles such as Puivert and Montsegur or tour the high mountains as far as Andorra --- and is only an hour's drive from the Mediterranean coast. Ideal for those who love nature and wildlife and tranquillity, yet shops, supermarkets & restaurants are only a 15 minute pleasant drive.

Benet Farm is at the end of its own long lane, surrounded by fields and moors, so there is no passing traffic (only the baker's van!) The farmhouse and barn-cottage are at opposite ends of a long line of farm buildings. The owners live in another converted barn nearby (“Benet”' is no longer a working farm; although the owners keep some horses, cats and friendly dogs --and hens, so you can have fresh-eggs for breakfast!) There are pretty shared gardens and terraces all around the property where guests can freely roam, but each house has its own pool, terrace and private outdoor space for barbecues and relaxing in sun or shade. Both houses are traditional cool, stone buildings but well modernised and well equipped.
The farmhouse is a little more spacious & elegant than the cottage with some fine pieces of Breton antique furniture; the cottage is simpler in style but has the larger pool. Both houses have four bedrooms but in the farmhouse, the fourth bedroom is part of a small apartment which can be kept separate or added to the rest – ideal perhaps where there are two families or an accompanying relation.

Farmhouse (including apartment)

Ground floor: Large living-kitchen including fridge-freezer, gas cooker hob and oven, micro-wave, coffee- maker, TV etc. Utility room with washing-machine. Bedroom with double bed and en-suite bathroom (shower, hand-basin, wc.)

Upper floor: bedroom with double bed and child-cot, bedroom with two single beds. Bathroom (shower, hand-basin, wc.) Door leads to apartment with double bedroom, small dining-kitchen & small bathroom (shower, basin & wc.) and separate entrance .

Exclusive use of circular swimming- pool, four metres diameter, large enough to permit a family to cool off & play games-- a pool for play and relaxation rather than for keen swimming.

Barn - Cottage

Ground floor: Medium-size living-kitchen with dinning and cooking space which includes gas-cooker, fridge, freezer, toaster, micro-wave, coffee- maker, TV etc. There is a downstairs wc.

Upper floor: bedroom one, with 2 bunk-beds & cot; bathroom with bath, hand-basin & wc; bedroom two, with 2 single beds; bedroom three with double bed; bedroom four with double bed & en-suite shower/wash-room.
All bedrooms have electric radiators.

Outside: barbecue area & terraced garden leading to attractively situated pool looking over the countryside.
