Old stone house in unspoiled Mediterranean mountain village, sleeps up to 7.
Set in the Parc Naturel du Haut Languedoc, swimming 5 minutes on foot,
coast 1 hr drive. Chez Theo, Vieussan: Situated in the Parc Naturel du Haut Languedoc, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Vieussan is an ancient hillside village dominating the Orb valley with views on to the Massif du Caroux (1091m alt)Spectacular and beautiful mountain scenery and wildlife is all around. Excellent hikes are to be found and swimming in the river is a five minute walk away. Local produce and wine may be bought in the village. There is a café, which serves food too. Some of the towns worth visiting in the area are: Mons la Trivalle (café, shops, Gorges d’Heric) 6 kms north, Roquebrun (shops, restaurants, river sports) 8 kms south, Lamalou les Bains (small spa town) 20 kms north-east, Beziers 40 kms south-east, Coast 50 kms The surrounding area is populated by a few farmers and vignerons (the local wine appellation is St. Chinian, and eminently drinkable). Famous for the marvellous quality of its light, a gentle luminescence which owes something to the mountain air, something to the sun's heat and not a little to the complete absence of pollution. The whole region is steeped in history and is an excellent base for touring. It is a great area for an open-air holiday, outdoor activities are plentiful and varied Canoe or kayak, either is great fun, descending on the river Orb. The Caroux offers some spectacular rock climbing where you can stretch yourself in lovely settings. Biking, canyoning, caving, golf and tennis possibilities shouldn't be forgotten about either. It's really all here...more or less on the doorstep! Parking is at the entrance to the village, the streets being to steep and narrow for cars. The accommodation, is in what was originally two houses built back to back, but on different levels because of the slope. Tastefully restored and fused into a comfortable home it has a roof terrace with a summer kitchen, barbecue and splendid views over the valley. Most rooms retain original features; such as stone sinks, fireplaces, beams and so on; though the old multi-level layout may present difficulties for the very young or elderly. Description: lower street level:main entrance into a steep, vaulted passage. On left: bedroom with large single (110cm); steps lead up to proper entrance door, a wc is on the left. (A central ‘well’ open to the sky gives light to the passage and other levels.)

At the back of the well equipped kitchen, there is a utility room with dishwasher and washing machine; also a shower and sink. 2nd level: (reached by staircase from living room) landing, to the left a bedroom with double bed (150cm),plus baby bed .
