Situated in the hamlet of Grezes 4km to the west of the historic city
of Carcassonne, the house, a listed building dating back to the 14th
century, was originally a Benedictine priory providing food, shelter and
education to the local villagers.
Now fully restored, the house offers
spacious, comfortable and modern accommodation either as a single property
or as two separate gites ('gite Lily' sleeps 4 and 'gite Henri' sleeps
6-8).
Grezes is ideally located close to the remarkably restored medieval city
of Carcassonne which offers an abundance of excellent restaurants and
entertainment. Toulouse, Montpellier, Narbonne and Colliouere, the
Mediterranean coast and the ski slopes of the Pyrenees are all close by.
The breathtaking countryside offers the opportunity to pursue a variety of
activities including white water rafting, cycling, walking, fishing,
painting and golf as well as wine tasting at the numerous local vineyards.
The cuisine is varied, including game, trout, lamb and seafood, all
seasoned with regional staples of garlic and olive oil, together with
specialties such as aligot, cassoulet, truffles, exotic mushrooms and
escargots.

Gite
Lily: The
gite is entered through French doors off the south facing private terrace.
There is a large, tastefully furnished lounge/dining area with a fully
fitted luxury kitchen through a stone archway. There is also a downstairs
cloakroom off the rear hall. To
the rear of the lounge/dining area up a few steps is a small private
courtyard ideal for the warm evenings.
On
the first floor there are two double bedrooms with panoramic views over
the vineyards and a luxury bathroom. Leading from the master bedroom is a
staircase to a mezzanine floor where a second lounge and shower room are
situated.
The
gite is very well equipped with satellite television, video recorder, CD
player, washing machine, dishwasher and central heating for winter use. The
house is fully double glazed with a large private terrace and
garden, separate pool area and secure off-road parking. |

Gite
Henri: The
gite has a spacious, tiled entrance hall leading to a large lounge/dining
area with an open plan kitchen. Also leading from the entrance hall is a
fully fitted shower/utility room.
Upstairs there are three double bedrooms - two doubles and a twin (there
is also a double sofa-bed in the lounge). There is a fully fitted
bathroom with a bath and separate shower cubicle. The
gite is very well equipped with satellite television, video recorder, CD
player, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and central heating for
winter use. |

The
swimming pool is set at the bottom of the main gardens and is surrounded
by a large sun terrace comprising barbeque area and authentic stone pool
house with seating area and bar.
Both Carcassonne and Perpignan airport are within very easy access, with
low cost flights from London Stansted, whilst Toulouse International
airport (50 mins by motorway) offers flights from many major cities.
