Mas, Les Terrasses & Le Bastidon, Cotignac. Cotignac, is a friendly medieval village, full of charm and character nestling at the foot of a huge limestone cliff in the heart of Provence. Two ancient Saracen towers dominate the cliff top overlooking the charming old tiled roofs of the village. The main village square hosts a busy market on Tuesdays. Glasses of chilled "rose" wine and aromatic coffee can be enjoyed at the pavement cafes beneath the shade of the grandiose plane trees. Sit down to tasty Provençal fare in the balmy moments of evening. Situated within easy reach of the Verdun Grand Canyon and the French Riviera Côte d'Azur (St Tropez,) near the Lake of St. Croix, where the locals produce Côte de Provence wine and olive oil. Golf in nearby Barbaroux 20 to 30 minutes away, or Nans les Pins, one hour away. Les Terrasses: Perfect for 10 to 12 people, this large Provencal Mas has 6 bedrooms, 2 full shower rooms and a full bathroom plus 4 toilets. It has a very large sitting/dining room with an open plan kitchen with all facilities, plus a laundry. Another, external summer kitchen is provided under a large awning, for cooking and dining on a large tiled terrace, plus another large terrace for soaking up the sun. There is also a garage for a car. The Mas has a very large pool (9m x 8.5m), which is a closed area, accessed through an iron safety gate to avoid danger with small children. The view from the pool over the surrounding countryside is absolutely stunning and the whole is set in 1 hectare (2.5 acres) of land, with an olive grove, laurels, flowers etc. There is also a table tennis table and petanque game for your use. The nearest village is 2 kms by car but only a 15-minute walk down the waterfall lane. The Mas is accessed from a private lane, with the entrance through the garage or up the steps on both sides going to the terraces. The 1st Floor: is the same level as the olive grove where you have access to the pool. The large dining room and open plan kitchen has large tables and chairs, a large antique cupboard with crockery and cooking utensils, posters or paintings of contemporary artists on white walls. The open plan kitchen is fitted with artisanal coloured tiling of Salernes, and has a very large and professional double sink, a microwave oven, 4 gas cooking plates, an electric oven where you can cook 2 dishes together and a very large fridge/freezer. A Hi-fi, with radio, tapes and compact disks are available plus library, with a telephone receiving all calls and you can make free local calls. (Mobiles receive full signal). A large fireplace with a Danish slow burning stove can be used in low season. 2 large French doors opening on to the solarium, a French colour television with VHS video (bring your own films), armchairs and a door on to the summer kitchen, staircase for access down or to the top floor. A corridor gives access to a separate WC, a bathroom (sink and a bath) with artisanal pink tiles. There is a bedroom, with a double bed and wardrobe, French doors open on to the solarium and has a window overlooking the landscape. The 2nd floor: has a shower room with shower, WC, and sink. The children’s area is large (2 windows on north) and has 2 single beds and wardrobe. This room leads off the main bedroom, so is only really suitable for children as it has no external door. The parents’ bedroom has a king size double bed, wardrobe, plus a wooden cot. Downstairs or ground floor: The large cellar has a washing machine, a freezer, a table for ironing etc, sink and shelves. A large room or playroom with 2 single beds, a French door opening on to a tiled terrace, artisanal antique tiles on floors. There is another large bedroom with French doors opening onto the gardens south side, a large double bed and wardrobe, another bedroom with a double bed and a single, a wardrobe and drawers. At the back of the bedrooms is a green shower room with a shower, WC and a sink. All bedrooms have pictures on walls and mosquito netting on the windows and doors to stop insects coming in at night time whilst reading. The garage has a WC, a sink, space for one car.
Le Bastidon aux Terrases: Very old 12© house, carefully renovated with an extension added. Consists of: Ground floor with sitting room, small bedroom space, kitchen / dining room, a separate WC, sitting room with a low table and armchairs, colour French television, hi-fi compact disks with radio, tapes and laser disks, a corner fire place and a French door opening on to the terrace equipped for outside eating, a single bed for 1 person under the vaulted space bedroom with small window (this corner bedding for 1 has a curtain in the arch). A large kitchen in the extension, with crockery and cooking utensils, a window on north side, another on east and 2 on south side with mosquito netting, 4 gas cooking plates, a fridge and a freezer on top, an oven with microwave function, sink, dishwasher and washing machine. A separate WC with a window looking north. 1st Floor: with a large bedroom, king sized bed, large wardrobe and a desk. This large bedroom has no door but a folding screen, shower room with a shower cabinet, WC and basin. There are steps up for access to the top bedroom, with a comfortable convertible sofa bed for 2, the south window looks over the landscape. (Not suitable for very young children, 5 steps are a little high), but great for a young couple or teenagers.
The outside large paved terrace
has garden furniture, round table and chairs, mattress for soaking up the
sun or having a rest under the large lime tree, as well a
portable barbecue. There are steps on both sides of the house to
enjoy the garden terraces to the back or front. |
