Le Vieux Chateau is an old watermill with outbuildings set in what one guide book to France describes as "a dark and magical forest" in the Calvados region of Normandy.

The property lies in a valley and extends to about six acres. Above the mill is a lake, and nearby there are the remains of a motte and bailey fortification from which the estate derived its name. There are well laid-out walks in the forest and around the lake. The mill itself is a three-storey building that has clearly been added to over the centuries. The lovely renovated properties nestle in an idyllic forest valley. Both have beamed ceilings, tiled floors, and wood burning stoves.

The House:  Two large family bedrooms: one with double bed, single bed and cot; the other with double bed and bunks. Living room with spiral staircase. Kitchen. Bathroom and separate wc.

The Cottage: Twin bedroom with cot. Single bed on landing. Shower and wc. Cosy traditional living room/kitchen.
