La Sauvageonne, Saint Palais de
Blaye, Gironde Our home is a beautifully restored "maison de maître" with three holiday suites, two three-star (épi) gites, and private owners quarters on 8 acres of wooded land. The entire property is surrounded by the vineyards of Côte de Blaye. The house dates largely from the 18th century with the oldest part dating back to the 16th century. The gites are a spacious 100 square meters and have a full bath, living room and dining room. Fully equipped kitchens along with washing machine, let you make your home away from home. All necessary shops are found in Saint Ciers sur Gironde only 2 kilometres away. One gite has 1 large master bedroom and foldout sofa in the lower quarters. The second gite has two bedrooms is currently under construction, to be finished in April of 2004.
Our three holiday suites offer exceptional space. Each has a 40 square-meter bedroom with queen-size bed, television, and armoire; its own private tiled bathroom with tub; as well as a salon for relaxing and unwinding after a full day of activity. Additional mattresses can be added to sleep up to 4 people if you are travelling in a group or family. All guests staying in the suites can enjoy the pool, bikes, and library as well as coffee, tea, and juices throughout the day. A delicious, hearty continental breakfast is served from 8:30 to 10:30. If you require breakfast at a different time, you can simply let us know. All guests can reserve a place at the dinner table where we serve a traditional French meal and superb wines of the Bordeaux area. Normally a minimum two-night stay
is required when booking in advance, but check with us to see if
one-night stays are possible for the period you would like to visit.
Sorry, but no pets are allowed in the suites. For insurance and safety
reasons, smoking is only permitted outside on the terraces or in the
garden. La Sauvageonne is an ideal destination for wine lovers and walking enthusiasts alike and lies central to both beach and vineyards. A half of an hour to the south, you can drive to many excellent vineyards near Blaye, Bourg, and further on to Saint Emillion. |
