L'Ancienne Perception, Cambremer, Normandy
Normandy Renovated town house
overlooking the village market square.
2 Bedrooms Sleeps 2-7
The house overlooks the market square of Cambremer in the heart of the
Pays D'Auge. Boulangerie, restaurant and bar are within 150 yards and
there is a range of shops including a pharmacy and bank with ATM.
Lisieux, 10 miles away, is the nearest large town. Cambremer is 40 mins
drive from the ferry ports of Caen or Le Havre, and 1 hour 40 minutes from
Dieppe.
Over 200 years old, the house is typical 'colombage' with a spacious
oak-beamed lounge (armchairs, settee/double sofa-bed, satellite TV with
DVD and video player) and a fully-fitted stone-walled kitchen/diner
(electric oven, grill and hob, microwave, washing machine and
everything you will need for up to 7 people). Upstairs, the 'blue
bedroom' has a double bed, dresser and walk-in wardrobe. The
modern bathroom has a bath, shower cubicle and separate wc. The top floor
bedroom has three single beds, dresser and wardrobe. All the beds
have duvets and pillows. We can hire you linen and towels on
request. Outside, the west-facing front terrace has a patio table
and chairs.

Whilst the house provides an ideal touring base there is much to do
locally, Cambremer is at the heart of the 'Cider Route' and you
can visit the local farms to see (and taste) cider being made the
traditional way or take a guided tour of one of the ancient Calvados
distilleries. At the house a map shows various 'green lane' walks starting
50 yards from the door. Market day is Friday with a special
market every Sunday in July and August. The small tourist office will also
give you details of other local events as well as 'manoirs', chateaux,
etc, that you can visit. The sandy beaches of Deauville and Cabourg
can be reached in about 30 minutes as can picturesque Honfleur, ancient
port and artist's paradise. Similarly the dramatically-restored castle at
Falaise, birthplace of William the Conqueror. Bayeux, for the tapestry, is
a little further a field. At Caen, the 'Peace Memorial' illustrates
the events that lead to the outbreak of WW2 and the invasion, and
subsequent liberation, of Normandy and includes film shows and interactive
displays. It is the ideal introduction to your visits to the D-day landing
beaches and other sites and museums, including the famous Pegasus Bridge.
Monet's Garden at Giverny and Chateau Gaillard at Les Andelys are within
easy reach, and Paris is just over to hours away by car.
