Situated in the Normandie Maine National Park, just 400 metres from Dompierre Village, La Denaisiere, is an ideal holiday base, either for peace and calm or, to enjoy a wide range of activities within easy reach. Its few minutes walk to the baker, selling fresh bread and pastries, nearby are two restaurants. The nearest shops are only a few minutes drive away at La Ferriere aux Etangs. Here, there is a small supermarket, butcher, baker, post office, pharmacy and doctor. More shops and more variety can be found at Domfront only 8 km away or, at Flers and La Ferte Mace. The latter are both about 20km away. Nearly all the towns in the area have weekly markets. There are banks with ATMs in Domfront, Flers and La Ferte Mace amongst other places.

For leisure activities, the choice is huge. The spa resort of Bagnoles de l’Orne offers spa baths, tennis, golf and riding, swimming, plus many restaurants, and small shops. There are many excellent walks to be had in the Andaines forest, between Dompierre and Bagnoles de l’Orne; enjoy a picnic and a swim in one of the many lakes. For water sports, the Suisse Normande, about a 30-minute drive, offers a wide range at several centres. Fishing, either trout or coarse is available in many rivers within easy reach.

Leisurely sightseeing offers a range of castles, chateaux and old towns and churches. Nearby, Domfront, with its fortified old town offers a lot to see and, a history reputed to stretch back to King Arthur. History buffs may want to visit, William the Conqueror’s birthplace and castle at Falaise; perhaps taking this in, en route to the large city of Caen, the nearby D Day beaches and the moving Memorial.

La Denaiaisiere is a recently fully renovated farmhouse, furnished and equipped to a high standard, surrounded by a spacious garden and adjoining paddocks. On the first floor are three bedrooms, each with a double bed. The bathroom is very well fitted with a bath and separate shower unit, the WC adjoins.

Downstairs, a spacious lounge/dining room has a TV, a range of jigsaws, board games and books. The fully equipped kitchen has a microwave, an electric oven with a rotisserie, a hob with both electric and gas rings, a dishwasher and a fridge freezer. An enclosed veranda stretches the length of the house, with a built in BBQ and pizza oven. The veranda has a dining table, chairs, armchairs, a TV and a hi-fi. A utility room with a washing machine, and adjoining WC, leads through to the garage.

Garden furniture, a portable BBQ, picnic table and chairs are all available as are 2 bicycles.

In cold weather, there is oil-fired central heating.

LA  Denaisiere is about an hours drive from Caen/Ouistreham ferry port, two hours from Le Havre, just over two hours from Cherbourg.
