Situated  just 4 kms. north of St Savinien, a beautiful quaint town built on the river Charente, these properties are in a small hamlet and offer an ideal base to explore the many attractions that the Charente Maritime has to offer, for example the beaches from La Rochelle to Royan, the islands of Oleron, Ile de Re and Ile D'Aix, the many chateaux, the ramparts of Taillebourg, or the wonderful Roman town of Saintes to name but a few. Close by there is a good supermarket, swimming pool, boating lake and park all standing in the shadows of a 13-14th century church with a massive bell tower, and there is a good range of restaurants, bars and shops in the town and local area. Each town has its own market day and there are often fascinating brocante fairs selling treasures of the past. St Savinien has a wonderful wine festival week end in August where you can taste the wine or Pineau, cheese or hams of the area.The area offers a wealth of history; the ramparts of Taillebourg, the walled town of Brouage, the Fort of Frouas, many chateaux, the wonderful Roman Amphitheatre, Baths and Germenicas arch at Saintes. the Royal Rope Works, arsenal and museum at Rochefort to name but a few.
More modern attractions include the Zoo at La Palmyre, the aquarium at Port des Minimes, the multitude of fish restaurants at Royan, the street entertainers and ambience of la Rochele also the distilleries at Cognac. Whether you visit one of the golf courses, go horse racing at Royan, go for the scenic country walks or just sitting in any of the lovely town squares watching the world go by all of these attractions will help you relax and enjoy your holiday and are all less than one hour from your accommodation.

La Mallete: is a beautiful 5 bedroomed Charentais farmhouse, built of beautiful sandstone, with exposed beams and a large open fireplace, offering a wonderful ambience. There is a large fitted kitchen with a dining table seating 6, washing machine and microwave, and an internal barbecue built into the open fireplace. The lounge, with open fireplace and oak beams, is furnished to compliment the character of the room, and has a refectory table seating 10/12. All 5 bedrooms have pleasant views, and are as follows; 3 x doubles, 2 x twins and a sofa bed. There are also two shower rooms with toilets and hand basins. The house has a private patio with a large table and 12 chairs, and a barbecue. There is a beautiful swimming pool shared with the cottage next door. The garden is well landscaped to give ample space to each family. Use of bicycles.

 
Shan Carragh: is a 3 bedroom cottage set within its own walled courtyard with purpose built barbecue area and garden table and chairs. Shan Carragh (meaning old friend in Gaelic) is an intimate but surprisingly spacious stone built cottage. It has been sympathetically restored and features beautiful exposed stonework and some exposed beams. There are 3 bedrooms, 1 x double and 2 x twins, with a shower room with toilet and wash basin. The kitchen has modern units and appliances including washing machine and microwave, and has a dining area seating six around a refectory table. There are two charming lounges furnished comfortably with a sofa bed in the second lounge for flexibility. A high chair and a cot are available for the young traveller.
