Le Mournet, Near St. Sauveur de Montagut, Les Monts
d’Ardèche National Park The Mournet is a beautifully restored, traditional Ardechois farmhouse that dates back to 1860 and is situated in the heart of the Ardeche in the Eyrieux Valley. The wild and unspoilt beauty of the Ardèche countryside holds many surprises not least of all the spectacular Gorges de l’Ardèche and the Eyrieux Valley, the Route de la Chataigne (the Chestnut Route). The property was completely renovated in 1990 to reflect its original charm with a touch of modern luxury. Three parts of the farmhouse – the ground or garden floor (La Chataigne), the stables (L’Ecurie) and the barn (La Grange)- have been converted into completely independent holiday accommodation from which you can fully appreciate the beauty and tranquillity of this largely undiscovered region. The property is south facing so all the accommodation, the garden and the pool benefit from the sunshine morning until evening. The gardens slope gently down to the Glueyre River where you can fish for trout or just enjoy the view, and the pool has a large terrace with sun-loungers and parasols so that you can fully enjoy the sunshine. About 100m from the house natural pools in the river are used by locals and tourists alike for bathing and the river lends itself to beautiful walks full of waterfalls and some excellent trout fishing. A small footbridge at the end of the garden leads you to the village and the well-stocked village shop just 500m from the house. The Mournet is situated at the entrance of the village of Albon in the heart of the Boutières Park at an altitude of 630m. The village benefits from a warm climate and despite the tranquil environment the house is only 500m from the village shop & bakery (open Sunday mornings as well), tabac, bar and post office. The village pétanque (boules) ground is at the bottom of the garden by the river as are great spots for trout fishing and natural pools for bathing. There are a multitude of things to see and do in the area, including swimming & other water sports, walking canoe-kayaking, rock climbing & abseiling, hang-gliding, white water rafting, horse riding, tennis, and yoga. There are a number of villages and towns close by offering a good choice of shopping, markets, bars and restaurants, where you can enjoy the gastronomy and wine for which this area is famous. The Properties: Each property has its own private entrance and terrace or garden with BBQ and garden furniture, and full use of the 12m 6m salt water filtered swimming pool. They are electrically heated, with well fitted kitchens, and comfortably furnished throughout.
Chataigne is a luxury large one bedroom (twin) dwelling for a
couple or more (using the sofa bed in the lounge). The fitted
kitchen is open plan with a light and airy lounge/dining area leading onto
the garden. The bathroom is next to the large double bedroom which again
has a door leading to the garden. The owners live discreetly on the premises, and Charlotte is a qualified yoga teacher so if you want a private yoga session during your holiday please ask. |
