Picturesque Country Cottage, Gascony.
Sleeping from 2 to 5.


This picturesque, vine-clad cottage nestles in the lush, rolling countryside of southern Gascony. It is located in a secluded rural setting midway between Lourdes and Armagnac. The cottage is ideal for small groups and a perfect base for active holidays or a quiet holiday for two.
Located close to the central Pyrenees, the property is within easy reach of the Pyrenean National Parks and the lush forests and undulating landscapes of the foothills. It is under an hour's drive to the mountains and Spain and 1 ½ hours to the Atlantic coast. The region offers numerous historical and culinary attractions. The historic towns of Pau, St. Bertrand de Comminges and Toulouse and famous wine-producing areas such as Madiran, Jurançon and Armagnac are within an easy drive. Music and theatre festivals, bastides, castles, potteries, spas and caves are all features of the area. It is 30 minutes drive to the popular international jazz festival in Marciac. You will also find a variety of outdoor activities including golf, riding, fishing, walking, skiing, stargazing and many opportunities to enjoy the superb natural beauty and wildlife of the area.

Accommodation and amenities.
There is a comfortable dining/living room with log fire and sofa. Off the main living area there is a well-equipped corner kitchen with gas stove and dishwasher (no microwave). The sitting room has a sofa bed. Bathroom (downstairs) with bath and shower attachment; 2 WCs (one upstairs); utility room with washing machine; 2 double bedrooms (one with additional single bed); one single bed on the mezzanine; another single bed in a small passage-room adjoining. The property is equipped with satellite television, reliable electric heating, iron, toaster, high chair, board games and an extensive library.

Outside, there are panoramic views from the west of the property and a sunny, tree-lined garden and terrace, ideal for outdoor meals. There is table tennis, boules, garden furniture, a barbecue and free use of bicycles if required. Guests will find a good selection of books, maps and guides in the property.

Travel planning / Facilities.
The nearest car-train/TGV stations and airports are Tarbes-Lourdes (30 minutes), Pau (40 minutes), Toulouse (1 ¼ hours), Biarritz (1 ½ hours), Carcassonne (2 hours). Shops/services, swimming pools, tennis and restaurants all 10 minutes drive.  There are also very good local markets and hypermarkets.


Prices per week: single week supplement of + £12 applies

October to early May: depending on dates and numbers £275 / £295
Mid May to end June, & September: £360
July & August: £400
5% discount for bookings of 3 weeks or more

Low season heating/power (mid October to April) per week depending on dates.

Rates include: power (May - mid-Oct.), water, local calls, use of TV, bikes

Deposit: 40% of total cost of rental on booking. Remainder (60% plus separate cheque for cleaning, power & optional chargeable expenses (see below) due 6 weeks prior to commencement of holiday.

Refundable breakages deposit: £250 payable in advance in addition to the cost of rental. This deposit will be returned to the hirer in full within 4 weeks after the end of the rental if no damage has been incurred to the property (house, grounds, furnishings and equipment) by the hirer or members of his party. The hirer is responsible under French law for the property and its contents whilst on holiday. He is responsible for all damage, breakages and losses caused by him or members of his party. The hirer must notify the owner of the size of his party and the number of persons under 18. No additional persons may be included unagreed. Non-smokers will be given preference. No pets.

Bed linen, towels etc: The hirer is normally required to bring his own bed linen and towels. A basic supply of tea towels, oven gloves and bath mats is available for use if required. The rental includes the use of duvets, blankets, pillows, bolsters, eiderdowns and bedspreads. Bed/cot linen (duvet covers, sheets, pillowcases, bath/hand towels) may be hired by arrangement (see below).

Other chargeable expenses (optional/by arrangement; payable by separate cheque with cleaning):

Bed linen: single set £12, double set £17, Cot hire (incl. linen) £10.

Gas bottles: Replacement costs for gas bottles are not included in the rental. Bottles must be purchased whenever necessary from the supplier described in the Instructions Sheet. The purchase price is refundable, provided that the receipt is forwarded to the owner.
