Tucked away in a relatively undiscovered corner of France, away from the tourist hot spots, Touquet is well placed to guarantee you a truly relaxing holiday. Towns and villages nestle amongst the fields of maize, tobacco and sunflowers, set in rich, rolling landscapes; a region long fought over by England and France. The area is steeped in history, with a multitude of interesting castles, fortified churches, and bastide towns and villages dating back hundreds of years, with the mediaeval city of Carcassonne being a major tourist attraction in the region. Other places well worth a visit are Lourdes, Pau, Toulouse, the spa town of Luchon, St. Bertrand de Comminge, and the caves showing pre-historic paintings. Within a short drive are the mountains and the Pyrenean National Park, offering numerous walks and excursions, and where you will also find a multitude of unusual bird and wildlife, flora and fauna, not to mention the stunning scenery. The area is well served with good motorway links from the western channel ports and  St. Malo (driving time approx 9 hours). The Spanish ports of Santander and Bilbao  are approximately 4/5 hour drive. The airlines Jet 2.com, British Airways, Ryanair and FlyBe all fly to Toulouse, Bergerac, Pau, Carcassonne and Bordeaux from many UK airports.

The local town of Trie sur Baise offers day to day requirements, with a bank, small supermarket, bakers, butchers and greengrocers, all situated around the pretty main square, and there is a bustling market each Tuesday. During the main season the town offers various events including a Classical Music weekend, antiques and night markets, as well as the local fete in August with its' week of various entertainment. For the sports enthusiast, there is golf, fishing, horse riding, tennis, canoeing, cycling, and various water sports, and in the winter there are ski resorts within an hours' drive. The more leisurely pursuits of walking, bird watching and painting can also be enjoyed in this beautiful region.

The Property: is a self contained converted barn, and adjoins  the owners'  farmhouse, in a truly rural and secluded location, ensuring a perfect holiday. The views are superb, with the Pyrenees in the distance, and the property is a perfect haven for 2 people, though a third could be accommodated if required. On the first floor is a charming, spacious lounge with dining area, full of character, with a wealth of oak beams, wood burner, dining area, satellite TV, Hi-fi and Internet access. There is also a superb balcony with lovely views over the garden towards the Pyrenees. There is a twin en-suite bedroom on the ground floor, plus a fully equipped galley kitchen and a small patio area. Visitors have access to the garden area at all times.

 The property is heated throughout. 

The large garden, complete with fish pond and 7.5m swimming pool, (May - October) is shared with the owners, and offers many places where you can relax in the shade and enjoy complete privacy. There is a BBQ and garden furniture, where you can enjoy dining "al fresco".
