Domaine de Caze: The rural setting
provides peace and tranquility, away from passing traffic to enjoy either
the shade of garden trees, bird sounds, a little sunbathing or relaxing.
Views from the house and from some local spots are intoxicating and
addictive and a brisk walk will take you to and through Lacassaigne, the
charming sleepy village, and back. A five minute drive, or 15minutes
energetic bicycle ride will take you to the local shops in Fanjeaux for
croissants and a morning coffee, or an evening ‘demi’. Local towns of
character to visit include Limoux – the carnival town, Mirepoix with its
market and amazing time warp, Montilou – the book village’ and many
more. Carcassonne with its medieval city, festivals with jousting,
concerts, shows and the occasional special brilliant pyrotechnic display.
Toulouse the nearest major town is an hours drive but not to be missed.
There is such a lot to see and do in the area.
Many relics and buildings relating to the Cathar episode. The
starkness of the black mountains, ski-ing in the Pyrenees, a trip to
Andorra, river trips on the canal de midi and numerous lakes, and
not to be forgotten swimming in the sea from the Narbonne plage where
you will encounter the devastating Mediterranean sun.
