La Tannerie is owned and run by Claire and Liam Dunne who live on site. They are on hand to provide any assistance required and both French and English are spoken. La Tannerie is a delightful and beautifully restored group of six homes, sharing a solar heated swimming pool, set in several acres of secluded garden, in the pretty market town of Chalais, on the Charente / Dordogne border. An ideal base for touring this wonderful part of South West France, Chalais has easy access to the Atlantic coast as well as being convenient for the cities of Bordeaux, St. Emilion and Cognac and their surrounding vineyards. Nearer to home are Aubeterre, Brantome and Riberac to name but a few of the worthwhile detours in the region. The local shops, selling typical local produce, are two minutes away. There is a supermarket for more extensive shopping. For the sports minded, canoeing, fishing, riding, swimming and tennis are minutes away and there are several small river parks within a 15 minute drive.

The Cottages: Our Maison de Maitre and cottages vary in size and are all completely self contained and very comfortable. They all have fully equipped kitchens with hobs, oven, fridge, microwave and washing machine. each has a patio area with garden furniture and BBQ.

La Maison de Maitre: sleeps 10, in 2 double bedrooms and two triple rooms, all en-suite. There are 2 living rooms, a dining room and a kitchen with dishwasher.

Les Baignades: sleeps 4/6 in 2 twin bedrooms, and there is a living room with convertible settee. It has a kitchen, shower and toilet.

La Secherie: sleeps 4/6 in 2 twin bedrooms, and there is a living room with convertible settee. It also has a kitchen, shower room and toilet.

Les Etables: (1) sleeps 3/5 in a triple bedroom  with convertible settee in the living room / dining area. It also has a kitchen, shower room and toilet.

Les Etables: (2) sleeps 3/5 in a double bedroom  and a single bedroom with convertible settee in the living room / dining area. It also has a kitchen, shower room and toilet.
