Le
Studio, Tessé-la-Madeleine, Bagnoles-de-L'Orne, Normandy.
The Studio: Which sleeps 2, or two with one baby, is over 23 square metres, with an entrance hall and separate bathroom of over 4 square metres. It is peaceful and cosy and has a micro hi-fi system and a digital and an analogue satellite TV system. There is a microwave, a hob with two electric and two gas rings and a wide range of kitchen equipment. Our visitors so far have been very pleased with the level of comfort and the location. The French windows lead out onto your own pleasant patio with table, sunshade, chairs and barbecue. You can also share a large garden at the front. The immediate surroundings are delightful and the property is near the edge of a small, historic spa town with excellent facilities. The peaceful wooded park of the local Chateau is just 2 minutes walk away. Shops of a very high standard and excellent restaurants are just four hundred yards away.
Bagnoles, has been famed for centuries for its’ wonderful air and health giving water from the “Great Spring”. The local forest has ancient links with the Arthurian legends and several days can be spent exploring its’ many tracks, on foot, or on horseback. There are over 10 large lakes for various water sports. Driving is like England in the early fifties but with much better roads . We keep discovering new delights in the surrounding area. Because it's a much bigger country with a lower population, you get a longer run between places. For the gourmet of real French food, there are many excellent small producers of dairy products, fruit, honey and vegetables and they sell these in the twice-weekly market in the town. Alternatively, many smallholders and farms can be visited directly. The area is famous for its cider, poiré and calvados and has a number of wonderful cheeses. The varied , unspoilt countryside of the Regional Park is within a few minutes drive, with a range of historic towns, villages and châteaux to visit. Further afield, but just over an hour's drive away, are the Loire Valley, Le Mans and the coast of Brittany, including Mont-St. Michel and pleasant beaches. One and a half hour's drive north through the beautiful Suisse Normande, takes you again to excellent bathing beaches as well as the Normandy "landing areas" and Bayeux, home of the famous tapestry. Immediately south is the outstandingly pretty Mayenne with its’ Alpes Mancelles region well worth a visit. Disneyland, Paris is three and a half hours drive away at Marne-La-Vallée, just east of Paris. The owners have been renting the main house for over 11 years and have had many repeat bookings. It is our policy to make continual improvements to our very comprehensive provision of facilities and equipment. A local English lady is on hand to welcome you and she and her family have given excellent service and have been very popular with our visitors. |
