La Métairie Rouge, Saint Cirq Lapopie, Near
Cahors
3 Spacious Properties in 40 hectares,
Sleeping 6, 8 & 10 People
Shared Swimming Pool
La Métairie Rouge, an estate of over
41 hectares (over 100 acres), is situated at about 30 km east of Cahors
in the wilder part of the department the Lot, named after the river Lot.
At about 7 km from La Métairie Rouge, on the borders of the river Lot,
you will find the lovely, artistic village of Saint Cirq Lapopie which
is situated app. 80m above the Lot.
Originally, the estate was an agricultural farm with woods and farming
land dating from ca 1780. On the estate you will find former stables
transformed into comfortable gîtes, each with a lot of privacy and with
a shared pool at about 50 – 70 M. As a result of the situation at the
top of a hill there is a lovely view from every gîte.
No more stress at La Métairie Rouge. At night the silence is absolute
and complete, no traffic, no streetlights, only a breathtaking starry
sky. The ideal place to find peace and quiet, also out of season as le
Vignoble and le Rosier (two of our gîtes) are excellently heated.
Between the gîtes lies a large, fenced-in swimming pool. Its depth
varies between 1.50m and 20cm which makes it suitable for every age
(under your own supervision!!!). As is almost inevitable at La Métairie
Rouge, the view is spectacular.
The swimming pool is open from end of May till not later than mid
September.
Archery is a nice, relaxing type of sport and we offer you the
possibility to exercise yourself in this. We start with an instruction
session and this will be followed by a friendly competition with the
possibility to win a prize. Other possibilities to enjoy yourself are
table tennis, jeu-de-boule and last but not least, playing chess on a
large as life chess board.
Le Rosier, sleeping 6, used to be a
sheep sty, but nowadays the space is transformed into a large, charming
gîte, surrounded on three sides by terraces with a marvellous view.
On the ground floor you will find a large living with kitchen and wood
burner. The kitchen is furnished with every modern comfort (dishwasher,
cooker, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer). A double bedroom with two
single beds and a bathroom with shower, washbasin, toilet and washing
machine is also situated on the ground floor. On the first floor, you
will find two more double bedrooms, one with a washbasin, and another
toilet and washbasin in a separate space. All bedrooms have single beds.
The gîte is available throughout the year as it has central heating and
an additional wood burner.
Le Vignoble, sleeping 8, also was a sheep sty. Thanks to the
thickness of the walls (over
60 cm.) the gîte is pleasantly cool during the summer. With two terraces
and a magnificent view, the outside is exceptional as well.
On the ground floor of this gîte you will find a spacious living room, a
bedroom with 2 single beds and a bathroom with shower, toilet, washbasin
and washing machine.
The kitchen is equipped with all modern conveniences like a cooker,
oven, microwave, fridge, separate freezer, toaster and dishwasher. A
television, DVD player and a large wood-burning stove are also to be
found in the living.
On the first floor you will find 3 bedrooms, all with 2 single beds, and
another bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin. A balcony with a
magnificent view runs along two of the three bedrooms. To ease your
mind: if you want to stay at La Métairie Rouge during the winter: the
gîte is centrally heated and the wood stove makes it a very comfortable
gîte indeed!
Le Pigeonnier, sleeping 10, is a characteristic, former pigeon
house. It was built during the 19th century, which means that here, as
well as in le Vignoble, you will find the thick, stone walls which keep
the heat out during the summer. The tower dominates its immediate
surroundings and gives you a wide view. The building has two terraces,
one in front with a superb view and one at the back.
A beautiful staircase joins all four floors of this tower. On the ground
floor you will find the kitchen, with cooker, oven, micro-wave, toaster,
freezer, fridge and dishwasher. Outside, attached to the building, is
the first bathroom with shower, washbasin, toilet and washing machine.
Passing through the living on the first floor (TV and DVD player
included) you reach the second floor with 3 bedrooms, each with 2 single
beds, one of them big enough to contain at least one more bed. Of course
this floor also holds a bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet. The
third floor, the attic, can hold another 3 single beds.
