The Lodge and Croft at Hunters Retreat are set in over 17 acres
of private grounds with beautiful gardens, swimming pool and its own
private fishing pool.
Situated in the hamlet of Le Claray 4km from the village of St Aubin des
Chateaux and 10 minutes from Chateaubriant.
Hunters Retreat is in the small hamlet of Le Claray, 4km from the
picturesque village of St Aubin des Chateaux, which has all the
amenities you would need; mini market, bar, chemist, post office, bakers
and butchers.
There is also an equestrian centre nearby.
Five minutes from Le Claray is a superb lake - Hunaudiere, with a great
creperie and bar. The historic town of Chateaubriant is just 12km away,
with Nantes and Redon at approximately a 45 minute drive away. The
coast, La Baule, is approximately 1 hour away.
There is plenty to explore in the historic town of Chateaubriant. The
chateau was built during the 11th century by Lord Brient and many people
settled around the foot of the chateau forming what eventually became
known as the town of Chateaubriant.
Each year at the beginning of September, a 4-day Foire de Bere is held
in Chateaubriant, with a live agricultural show, many stands offering
wine tastings of regionally produced wines, plenty of food and drink
stands and for those who are not faint hearted; some superb rides at the
funfair.
St Aubin des Chateaux is ideally situated to explore nearby lakes with
man-made beaches, travel to the coast and visit local ancient market
towns.
2km from Hunters Retreat we have our own private 5-acre fishing lake. It
is completely private and set in the middle of a forest. You don't need
a licence and you can fish 24/7. The lake was stocked in 2007 with carp
from 12lb to 37lb and sturgeon from 15lb to 22lb. Contact us for further

The Lodge:
The ground floor has an open plan lounge with wood burning stove,
English television, DVD player and music system, together with a
selection of DVDs and CDs which are available on request.
Kitchen/diner area with cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine,
dishwasher, microwave and an excellent selection of china and utensils.
Also on the ground floor is a twin bedroom and Shower room.
There are three bedrooms on the first floor, two large doubles and a
twin bedroom. The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, wash basin
and WC.
The Lodge has its own swimming pool
The Croft:
Has its own swimming pool and solid fuel central heating for winter
lets.
Upstairs is a master double bedroom and a large bedroom with 3 singles,
and a family bathroom with overhead shower.
Downstairs has a double bedroom with shower room, large lounge with 3
sofas, English TV, DVD player, music system, kitchen/diner, with
everything you need including dishwasher, washing machine, cooker,
microwave etc, patio doors leading on to garden with patio furniture and
BBQ.
Outside
Private patio with barbecue and garden furniture overlooking beautiful
gardens.
The Lodge also has its own private swimming pool with sun-loungers. The
pool is available from the end of May until the end of September.
Set in 17 acres of private land, there are plenty of things to do
including tennis, badminton, pitch and putt and table tennis and plenty
of space for football, cricket and rounders.
There is also a fishing pool and a children’s play area.
There are a selection of bikes available for guests use.
