La Prairie is quietly situated away from the hustle and bustle of the ultra 'touristy' areas – yet it is close to a small, typically French town, which holds many fetes and festivals throughout the year. Vernantes has all the necessary supermarket, restaurants etc, and the very French, riverside town of Saumur is just a 10-minute drive away. Here you will find a vast array of restaurants, shops, museums, and many other things of interest, including a very imposing château. For horse lovers, visit the Cadre Noir, the horse museum, the National Stud at Lions D'Angers etc.   There are numerous 3-day events, show jumping and dressage competitions in the area. Horse riding is available at La Prairie, catering for the most experienced competition rider to the complete beginner.

La Prairie is within easy driving distance of the chateaux and vineyards of the Loire Valley. Amboise, Saumur, Tours, Chinon etc. are all easily accessible. There are 4 very good golf courses nearby, fresh-water fishing and many lakes to fish, horse riding, sailing, flying at Saumur (light aircraft), hunting in the forests and of course many super vineyards and châteaux. Or, if this all sounds just too energetic, you can just laze by the pool, or fish in one of the owners private lakes.

The property is surrounded by 20 acres of grassland for the owner’s horses, which are available for specialist riding holidays or hourly rides, pretty gardens, several patios, a heated outdoor swimming pool, and two lovely lakes.

The Gites:

All the rooms are of a very high quality, furnished with antiques from around France many with old oak beams and Tuffeau stone walls.  All of the bed and breakfast rooms have en-suite bathrooms, which are especially designed and equipped for your comfort.

Gite Glycine: is a small but very well equipped gite, with lovely views over the fields. There is one bedroom, and sleeps 3 people, in a king size bed and a single. It has a bathroom, small kitchenette and a sitting/dining area. Access is directly from the swimming pool area, so we do not advise the use of Glycine for very young children.

Minimum  3 nights stay : from 70 Euro per night including all linen/electricity etc....

Weekly stays during June and Sept: 450 Euro per week

Weekly stays during July and August: 550 Euro per week

Weekly stays rest of year: 350 Euro per week

Gite Lavande: A very nicely presented cottage with a double bedroom and a triple room with 3 single beds. It has a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and dining/sitting room. There are no stairs to negotiate, so this gite is ideal for children and those who find stairs difficult.

3 nights minimum: 100 Euro per night. Weekly July-August: 850 Euro     Weekly October-May: 500 Euro Weekly June and September:  650 Euro per week

Bed and breakfast / Gite Roseraie: Offering total flexibility, these 3 bedrooms may also be rented as a self-catering gite, on a weekly basis for up to 10 people. Alternatively bedrooms Fuchsia and Lilas can be rented as self-catering - as Chambre Jonquil has it's own private entrance. 

Bedroom Fuschia: a family room with a king size bed and 2 singles, and a large en-suite bathroom.

Bedroom Jonquil: On the ground floor, overlooking gardens to the front, it has it's own private entrance. This is a charming double room with king size bed and en-suite bathroom

There is a fully fitted kitchen plus dining/sitting area, for guests to share.   The whole of this wing of the house (furnishings and fittings) is of the highest quality with traditional tuffeau stone walls and oak wood panelling.

La Roseraie weekly rates (whole property):

900E (Oct-Mar), 1300 Euro (Sept/Apr/May/June/Xmas), 1600 Euro (July and August).   

Bed and breakfast rates:

Fuschia: 120 Euro per night for 4 people

Lilas: 80 Euro per night for 2 people, 95 Euro per night for 3 people, 120 Euro per night for 4 people.

Jonquil: 75 Euro for 2 people per night, 50 Euro for 1 person.

A delicious breakfast is served between 8am and 9.30am each morning - either in the dining room or, when the sun shines on the patio outside. Breakfast consists of freshly ground coffee/tea/hot chocolate, croissants, baquettes, choice of patisseries, yoghurts, orange or apple juice and homemade jams/honey.

The gites are of a very high quality and we ask you to respect this when using them. Rates include linen/towels/electricity/water etc.  plus a welcome pack on your arrival.

A breakage deposit of 500 Euro or 350 pounds sterling is required, which is returned to you at the end of your stay (subject to breakages and damage of course!)

Breakfast can also be provided to our guests in the gites, at a rate of 8 Euro per person - please ask if you would like this service.
