Vienne, in rural Poitou Charente, is still relatively undiscovered and is a peaceful and welcoming region. With a climate warmer than Normandy or Brittany, but less fierce than the south, it offers something for all the family. It has ideal walking, cycling and riding country, with beautiful lakes and rivers offering water sports from fishing to canoeing. Futuroscope and the west coast beaches are a short drive away. The falconry displays at Chauvigny and the antics of the monkeys at 'Vallee des Singes' enthral visitors.
Charroux is the nearest small town for a bakery etc and is only five minutes away, with Civray, with its' bustling weekly market and larger selection of shops being just ten minutes away.

The buildings at Mont Lorier are clustered around an ancient Commanderie (dating back to the times of the Knights Templar) and are set in six acres of parkland leading down to the river Charente. Two old stone built farm properties have been newly and lovingly renovated to form spacious and independent gites. The grounds lie on a plateau above the river, giving superb views and plenty of room for children to play. There is a sandpit and toys for the very young and a securely fenced 5m x 12m swimming pool for the whole family to enjoy. A wooded slope leads to our private footage along the Charente, where tranquil fishing can be enjoyed.

Le Lorier, sleeps 8 to 10: With 4 bedrooms, separate dining room, fully fitted kitchen (including dishwasher, microwave, cooker, fridge freezer & washing machine) bathroom, shower room and spectacular double height salon. Le Lorier makes a wonderful base for a large family holiday or group of friends. The salon leads to a terrace overlooking the Charente and the fields beyond. Extra guests can use the double bed-settee in the salon.

La Grange, sleeps 5 to 7: A large living/dining area with a fitted and fully equipped kitchen corner (dishwasher, microwave, halogen hob, electric oven & fridge freezer) leads on to a spacious terrace. Above the living room, a wooden mezzanine contains a double sofa-bed. There are two bedrooms, 1 with twin beds and 1 with a double and a single bed. There is a newly installed bathroom with a washing machine and a separate shower room.

Each gite has a wealth of information for tourists, with maps, games, books, puzzles available, plus there is outside furniture and BBQ's for your enjoyment.
