Less than 30 minutes from the Vendee Coast with its warm climate, miles of sandy beaches, and lovely islands, Domaine de Chabrignac is set in the countryside amidst fields of sunflowers and vines in almost 2 acres of garden and orchard. The pretty coastal towns of Royan and La Rochelle, with its historic harbour, are nearby as are Cognac and the ancient Roman city of Saintes.  The larger towns of  Niort, Bordeaux and Poitiers, where Futuroscope can be found, are within easy reach. The small village of Champagnolles with a general store as well as Boulangerie, Boucherie and Charcuterie is only a kilometre away and there are supermarkets, street markets and restaurants in the nearby villages of Mirambeau, Gemozac and Pons.

FACILITIES
For  the more active there are bicycles available and a small gymnasium with treadmill, rowing machine and other equipment.   A child seat is available for one of the bicycles.
If that doesn’t sound like your idea of a fun holiday, there is a solar heated 35 ft  swimming pool to swim in or simply relax by.  The pool side BBQ is there for those long summer evenings when you can’t be bothered moving and the underwater lights and poolside power will enable you to enjoy the pool well into the evening.  Garden and poolside furniture is provided.

ACCOMMODATION
Both gites are newly decorated and refurbished. The lounge/dining rooms have oak beams and open fireplaces and the corner kitchens are newly fitted and well equipped, including microwave oven.  There are shared washing machine and laundry facilities
Each gite has its own patio and BBQ.   A TV and radio/CD player is provided.
There is a double bedroom plus twin bedroom in both gites, with an additional pull-out/sofa bed in each.   The bathrooms are large with shower, washbasin and separate WC.
Bed linen is provided although guests will need to bring their own towels.
Cots and high chairs are available free of charge.

SURROUNDING AREA
Bordeaux – less than an hour away on the auto route – is a lovely town with plenty of shops, restaurants and some wonderful sightseeing.
Cognac is only a short distance away and is famous for its cognac houses such as Martell and Hennessey which you can tour.  Cognac is a very pretty town, worth a visit for its shops and restaurants.
La Palmyere is less than an hour away and has a lovely zoo with many interesting features.  Also in this area is a water park and a small theme park as well as many beaches.
La Rochelle is only an hour away and is famous for its old historic port with ancient portals and citadel.  The bustling and fashionable sea front is full of little bars and restaurants – an ideal place for seafood lovers.
Poitiers is 90 minutes away and it is here that Futuroscope can be found.  Futuroscope is a state-of-the-art audio/visual theme park which will appeal to all those interested in futuristic technological advances.
Royan is less than 30 minutes away and is an up-market tourist town with large harbour and miles of sandy beaches. Lots of very nice restaurants to cater for all tastes and pockets.
The Gironde estuary and the coast is also less than 30 minutes away and you can follow the Rout Vert along the coast to take in a variety of small, attractive towns and villages with  harbours and restaurants.     Saintes is about 20 minutes away and is a lovely old Roman town with many roman remains including an amphitheatre which is well worth a visit. Saintes also has excellent shops, a very good market and many good restaurants.
