A restored XVc
water mill set in idyllic beauty in the Mayenne Loire Valley, near to
the Brittany and Normandy borders, and the National Park. The house is
set in 3 acres of landscaped grounds, with a carp fishing lake of half
an acre. The property offers complete tranquillity and seclusion, yet is
situated only 2 miles from the bustling, medieval town of Gorron which
has all cosmopolitan amenities.
This is the ideal location for family holidays. The peaceful grounds and
surrounding countryside offer an idyllic romantic setting. Peaceful
country lanes provide perfect biking excursions. The stunning vista of
the property from across the lake offers enchanting landscape views for
artists.
The property existed as a water mill in 1415. The self contained
accommodation is semi-detached to the proprietor's premises. The fishing
lake is constantly fed by a stream, and exits via a waterfall into a
second smaller pool. At the rear of the cottage is an orchard and a
woodland. You can relax in the gardens, barbecue the local food, drink
the local red wine at only 50p per bottle and feed the ducks.
Alternatively, you can saunter along traffic free leafy lanes and absorb
the beautiful loire valley landscape.
The west coast Atlantic beaches & Mont St Michel are 35 miles away.
Eurodisney is approximately 3 hours to the east and Futurescope is 3
hours to the south, Le Mans is 50 miles to the south east. The area
surrounding the property is unspoilt, undulating open countryside, with
a richness of beauty and historical interest, including a Roman town,
1797 French Revolution connections, castles, chateaux and World War II
memorabilia. The local food and restaurants are very good, especially
the sea food, and the prices are remarkably inexpensive. The small
hamlet of Lebois is just 500m away, and Gorron just two miles. Here you
will find all you need, shopping, restaurants, swimming pool, park,
cinema, and, of course, a weekly market.
The Accommodation: has a sitting room with comfortable furniture, sky
TV, video and DVD player. There is a dining area and fitted kitchen,
with fridge, cooker, washing machine and microwave. The 3 bedrooms offer
2 doubles, and the third contains 2 single bunks. Bathroom 1 has a bath
with shower, wash basin and wc, and bathroom 2 has a shower, basin and
wc.
Outside, there is plenty of space to relax and simply enjoy the
tranquillity, with sun beds, tables, chairs and BBQ.
THE LAKE IS WELL
STOCKED WITH CARP AND TROUT, AND FISHING IS BY ARRANGEMENT.
FISHING IS CHARGED AT £50 PER PARTY PER WEEK FOR
