At Nearly Heaven, we
offer a great deal more than traditional (self-catering) French
farmhouse accommodation so why not join us for some flying, cycling,
walking, swimming and horse riding. Our properties are within walking
distance of open countryside, woods, lakes and the local village where
there is a pub, restaurant, tobacconist and bakery.
La Chataigneraie:
This is a Traditional French farmhouse in the heart of the French countryside. 4 double bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 30ft long lounge, Kitchen with all the essential appliances, private swimming pool. Ideal for families, corporate holidays, training sessions or large groups. Cot and high chair available, if required.
La Porcherie: The gîte is a cosy self contained property which used to be the old piggery and the bacon/ham smoking room. Renovated to a very high standard with own private garden next to La Chataigneraie. Can be booked separately or in conjunction with the main house. With full access to the the same 5 Hectares of private land
but not the swimming pool unless booked together. Sleeps up to 4, Kitchen and bathroom, Gas central heating and wood burning stove. Cot and high chair available, if required.
We have over 5 Hectares of private land, which is available to anyone
staying at the farmhouse or the gîte. Additional on-site facilities
include table tennis, badminton, bicycles and, for the farmhouse, a 10m
x 4m swimming pool. Fishing permits are available for local lakes and
rivers. There is a model aircraft club just up the road and a Go-carting
track within 10 minutes drive. Other local attractions include historic
Oradour sur Glane village, Richard the Lion heart route, porcelain
factories and museums in the surrounding villages.
English-language Flying Lessons at a JAR Approved Flight School
Flying lessons and air-experience flights are provided in conjunction
with the Aero club de Limoges whose rates are around 40% cheaper than
most UK flight schools while offering more-reliable weather and the
superior facilities of an international airport.
We offer introductory, conversion and Private Pilot's Licence (PPL)
courses provided by our own English lady Flying Instructor who is fully
approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Direction
Générale de l'Aviation Civile (DGAC) to conduct English-language
training in the UK and France. Sue is also a CAA authorised Flight
examiner & Ground School examiner. So, in short, you can take all of
your exams in English with Sue in France. Before your first flight, we
will brief you with all the information required so you can enjoy the
experience of flying a plane. We begin the lessons in one of the Robin
DR 400-140 aircraft. These are one of the easiest training aircraft to
fly and they have great visibility. The quality, reliability and ease of
flying the Robin has given it the reputation of 'the Porsche of the
skies'.
If you are house hunting this is a great way to view properties and the
area.
Farm Sanctuary
We started our Farm Sanctuary last summer and it has already been an
instant success with our guests - especially the children. Many of the
animals have been rescued or re-homed when their owners are moving away.
They include Shetland ponies, sheep, Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pigs, ducks,
rabbits, pheasants, quail, pigeons & hens. We are happy to take guests
around & introduce you to the animals & tell you all about them. In 2009
most of the hens & ducks should be laying so we can provide our guests
with fresh eggs too.
