200 year old renovated farmhouse with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps up to 14 people

Set in a quiet hamlet in the heart of Touraine, 1km from local village with pub, boulangerie and 9-hole golf course, this newly renovated 200-year-old farmhouse is child-friendly and has a fantastic swimming pool set in an acre of private lawned gardens and orchard. The small village of Verneuil-sur-Indre is within walking distance and is nestled in rolling hills and forest with good services. The medieval market town of Loches is 8km away and provides many restaurants, bars and shops. Fishing, bike hire, vineyards and forest walks are all nearby and the house is a short drive from the magnificent Chateaux of the Loire and cosmopolitan Tours, with it’s abundance of shops, restaurants and an airport with daily flights with Ryanair from Stansted during the summer.

The accommodation: has the little extras provided to make your stay as relaxing as possible, and is centrally heated throughout. There are additional spare beds and 2 cots so that there can be any combination of families staying in the different rooms.

Ground floor: There are 2 bedrooms on the ground floor, one of which is en-suite, and there is a separate shower room. The oak beamed living room has a traditional large open fireplace, made from the local stone, and French doors to the garden. It has 3 large sofas, a tv/video and CD player. The newly fitted kitchen has a huge fridge, 5 hob double oven, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a coffee percolator, espresso machine and coffee grinder to hand and the kitchen is extremely well equipped with pots, pans and most importantly, decent wine glasses! The dining room sits adjacent to the kitchen – it’s large enough for family gatherings. Bedroom 4 has a large, full en-suite bathroom and a double bed with views to the garden through the full-length French windows. Bedroom 5 has lots of daylight and again opens on to the garden through French windows. It’s a large room with 2-queen size “ lit beds” and a fold down sofa bed.

First floor: Bedroom 1: A large, airy room with a wooden floor and large double bed along with a sofa and 2 huge armchairs in front of the open fireplace. Bedroom 2: This room has great views and exposed beams. There is a large iron double bed and sofa bed . Bedroom 3: Created with children in mind this large room has bunk beds (big enough for adults) with plenty of space for extra beds and toys. All rooms upstairs have safety catches on the windows for peace of mind. There are also children’s plastic plates, plastic cutlery, cups, games, and a tv/video.The bathroom, with bath, shower, wash hand basin and toilet, is on the landing between bedroom 2 and 1.

Outside there is a beautiful lawned garden of some 4000m2. In the garden there are some 30 fruit trees and it is all fenced off for safety. There are separate areas for dining and barbecuing, badminton and a fenced off area for the swimming pool.

The swimming pool measures 9.2m by 4.2m and has a 50m2 sunbathing patio with loungers and table and chairs. For safety and to comply with new French legislation there is also a security cover, which holds in the heat and gives peace of mind. It can be rolled up in a couple of minutes. Toys, swings, slides and sand pits are all provided and there are a couple of bikes with child seats as well if you feel energetic enough to take a ride through the surrounding countryside.
