The historic and tranquil hill-top village of Villefranche de Lonchat is just 4kms away with its two churches, museum, well stocked village shop, baker, chemist and bars. It overlooks the less tranquil Lac de Gurçon . Here one can swim from a sandy beach, windsurf, hire a pedalo and visit several bars and restaurants. There are tennis courts and riding stables too. Other local places to visit include:- St. Emilion, the world-famous wine producing town is only a 15 minute drive away. Bergerac, situated on the edge of the River Dordogne, 50 minutes drive. Castillon la Bataille, hosts an elaborate reconstruction of the last battle of the one hundred year old war which marked the end of the English Aquitaine, 20 minutes drive. Montpon, a pretty market town 15 minutes drive away. St Foy-Le-Grande a picturesque town on the banks of the great Dordogne, 30 minutes drive.

The accommodation comprises the following :

Entrance Hall, with exposed stone walls and original beams.
Living Room, comprises of original fireplace, tiled floors and views into the garden. A comfortable environment in which to sit, read, relax, watch a video of your choice or listen to music.
Kitchen, farmhouse style, with large fireplace, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, large fridge freezer, oven and hob, and double-sink. The view from the kitchen window is not to be missed. There are plenty of pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and most importantly, glasses, as the local wine is superb and must be sampled at your leisure.

Master bedroom with en-suite, comprising of bath and shower, toilet and wash-basin, wrought-iron double bed and solid oak antique furniture. It boasts tastefully exposed stone-walls.
Twin-bedroom with en-suite, comprising of shower, toilet, wash-basin. Again, the exposed stone walls create a traditional French atmosphere and help maintain a cool climate for your comfort.
Outside, back courtyard, secure and private, a wonderful sun-strap, a peaceful retreat and a perfect place for a quiet evening meal.
Front terrace garden, private and secure. The garden is proud of its wonderful well-established trees, ancient four à pain, working water pump and patio areas both around the 8m x 5m shaped pool and under the magnificent horse-chestnut tree. Beneath the shade of the chestnut tree there are tables, chairs, and a BBQ.


The property will be available for occupation on the take over day at 4 o'clock in the afternoon - and we would expect the guests to leave on the outgoing morning by 10 o'clock. We ask for understanding on this point as changeover days do involve considerable housekeeping activities and we like to be able to present, you the client, with a pristine property. If you have a problem with air flight timings etc, please do let us know in advance.
