Saint Castor is a secluded hillside estate in Provence, near Avignon and Uzes.  Built on the site of the monastery of Saint Castor, the estate is in an exquisite setting, with extensive flower gardens and terraces.  There are ancient oaks, towering cypress trees and rows of lavender.  The property has exceptional views over the surrounding vineyards and countryside.  The best of Roman France is within easy reach, as are numerous local festivals and a wide range of outdoor activities.  Located in the heart of the Cotes du Rhone wine growing region, Saint Castor is virtually surrounded by excellent vineyards.

Accommodation

Well House:  Sleeps 8.  A fully modernised, authentic stone house.  There is a kitchen/dining room with all conveniences and glass doors facing out towards the private terrace, with built-in barbeque and lovely views.  In the comfortable sitting room  there is an open fireplace, TV and video.  Upstairs are four double bedrooms (each with en-suite shower and toilet).  The Well House and Apartment share the lower swimming pool which is 13.5 x 5.5 metres, with roman steps.

Apartment:  Sleeps 2+.  The apartment consists of a double bedroom with en-suite shower and toilet, and a large living room with a double sofa bed, TV and video, and a fully-fitted kitchen area.  The apartment, while being completely private and having its own entrance, is part of the same building as the Well House and shares the lower swimming pool.  They are therefore often rented together.

Rose House:  Sleeps 6.  The Rose House is a pretty and completely modernised stone house.  Upstairs is a large, open-plan living area with high ceilings and exposed beams, an open fireplace, TV and video.  The kitchen, which is part of the living area,  has all conveniences and there are lovely views from the living and dining area.  On the same floor is a double bedroom with en-suite shower and toilet.  Downstairs are two further double bedrooms, a bathroom and separate toilet.  There is a small terrace around the side of the house shaded by a large fig tree, with lovely views.  The Rose House shares the upper swimming pool with the Bake House and there is also a dining/barbeque area near the upper pool for the use of the Rose House.

Bake House:  Sleeps 2-4.  The Bake House is a newly converted stone cottage in a magnificent setting, above the upper swimming pool.  Downstairs, there is a double bedroom (with French doors onto a private terrace), bathroom and separate toilet.  The first floor is a living/dining room with TV and video and a separate fully fitted kitchen.  There is a balcony with amazing views.  Above the living area is a mezzanine with a double bed. All three floors are connected by an impressive spiral staircase.
