The houses are on the
outskirts of the village of Bourg de Visa, about 30mins drive from
Agen deep in the heart of fruit-growing and sunflower country. Because we
are almost as far south as the Mediterranean coast, the climate is
noticeably and reliably warmer than the UK.
All you’re likely to need on a day-to-day basis is available a few
minutes’ walk away in the village: Spar supermarket, restaurant, bar,
tabac (English newspapers to order) boulangerie, chemist, post office,
bank.
There is a farmers’ market on Sunday mornings, May to September (as there
is in most of the surrounding towns and villages). You can get information
on local boules at the village piste from restaurant Chez Maria, book
tennis on the floodlit court at the chemist and buy fishing licenses from
Guy Lacombe at the garage. The surrounding countryside offers unlimited
scope for walkers and cyclists and you are well placed for canoeing with
the Lot and Garonne nearby. Details of horse riding and other seasonal
activities can be found at the very helpful village tourist office.
The area can be generally described as a series of interlocking
broad valleys and hillsides topped with ancient ‘bastide’ towns and
villages. Each has its own charm and supply of cafes/restaurants and is
worth investigation. For serious shopping, promenading and eating out, the
larger market town of Moissac is about 20 minutes’ drive towards Toulouse
and the university town of Agen 30 minutes in the direction of Bordeaux.
Between them they offer every facility and diversion you might require; as
an extension of that thought the Chateaux, Caves and and vineyards of
Buzet and Cahors are about an hour away. It is just about manageable to
make a long day trip to the coast at Arcachon or even south to the Med at
Narbonne, but an overnight stay makes the experience more worthwhile.

renovated and re-equipped to provide beautifully comfortable accommodation
for 6 people (though included is a sofa bed for another two if required).
Lounge, large living / dining / kitchen, utility room, 2 double bedrooms,
1 twin bedroom, bathroom, shower room, and 2 wc’s. The living room opens
onto a large covered dining terrace with built in barbeque, petanque
court, table tennis and swimming pool (11 x 5m) All facilities are
exclusive to the house. There is a well-stocked wine cellar which you may
have access to and purchase from, if you wish.
Barn: A spectacular detached stone barn conversion offering
luxurious modern accommodation on a huge scale for 8 (10 with sofa bed),
and to the highest specification 3 double bedrooms, 1 twin, each with
en-suite bathrooms or shower rooms. Large living room, dining terrace with
pergola, kitchen, utility room.). Garden and poolside furniture, built-in
barbeque, petanque court and swimming pool (11 x 5m) All facilities are
exclusive to the house.

machine, tumble dryer, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, TV, stereo, phone
