Relax in our tranquil and secluded 17th century farmhouse, with its' own private swimming pool, set in nearly 4 acres of garden and meadow surrounded by woodland and country lanes. The property is situated 1.5 kms from the village of Issac and 8 kms from the town of Mussidan, which is well served with supermarkets, shops, several excellent restaurants and also a Saturday market.

We are centrally sited between Bergerac and Perigueux for visitors wishing to explore the pleasures of the Perigord, with an excellent train service to Bordeaux from the station at Mussidan. The vineyards of Bergerac and St. Emilion are within easy reach, as are the many caves, chateaux, bastides and medieval towns for which this area is famous.

For the more athletic this is ideal country for cycling, walking and horse riding. Canoeing is available on the rivers Dordogne, Isle, Vezere and Dronne - all within a short drive. There are also several good golf courses nearby, (3 x 18 hole and 1 x 9 hole), leisure lakes with beaches, pedalos, water sports and swimming. Mini golf and bowling are near to the large shopping centre in Bergerac, or you can take a train ride from Bergerac to Sarlat through the Dordogne valley, or one of several boat trips on the Dordogne.
You can, of course, just relax in the garden, watch the birds and wildlife, play petanque, swim, read, enjoy the silence and return home totally chilled out.

We are located 1 1/4 hours from Bordeaux Airport, and 35 mins. from Bergerac Airport (Buzz flights from Stansted), 10 hours drive from Calais and 7 1/2 hours drive from Caen or St. Malo.

The Farmhouse: At the front of the property is a large courtyard formed by the farmhouse, its mellow stone barns and a low stone wall providing a sheltered garden. We live in one of the barns but this does not detract from the privacy of the farmhouse as it is not overlooked and the barn has its own entrance and walled garden.
The house is very comfortably furnished with a light and spacious sitting room with open access to the dining area, which retains its original large fireplace. There is a satellite TV with English channels, video recorder to play UK videos, (we have a small selection of videos) radio/CD player. From the dining area is the door onto a 34 sq.m. south facing covered terrace equipped with garden furniture, sun loungers and barbeque. The terrace overlooks a colourful flower garden and 8m x 4m x 1.25m deep swimming pool and has uninterrupted views over the meadow and wooded valley, which provides a perfect setting for those long lazy meals on hot summer evenings.

An airy, well equipped kitchen, with washing machine, dishwasher and microwave, is accessed from the dining room through a low beamed archway. There are 4 bedrooms, two being on the ground floor and having access onto either the courtyard or the terrace, as well as from the sitting room. The king sized bedroom has an en-suite shower room/wc and the other has twin beds making the two suitable for one family occupation. On the first floor is another twin bedded room with en-suite bath wc and basin. Across the oak beamed landing area is the fourth bedroom with double bed, en-suite wc and basin.

Chambre d'amis with double bed, en-suite shower/wc and kitchenette, also available for rent with the farmhouse only (not available separately).
