Set in 4.5 hectares, this 17C farmhouse is located on a sheltered promontory 16 kms from the ancient city of Castres. Surrounded by meadows and woodlands, on a clear day the snowcapped peaks of the Pyrenees are visible 100 kms to the south. The village of Puycalvel is just 1 km. where you can buy basic provisions, and the beautiful hilltop town of Lautrec, which has shops and restaurants, is just 10 minutes away. Golf is available at Fiac and Castres, and the beautiful cities of Albi (35 mins), Toulouse (60 mins) and Carcassonne (75 mins) are all within easy reach, and the Mediterranean just 2 hours away.
Cheap fly/drives are now availably from many UK airports to Toulouse and Carcassonne.

The Farmhouse: has a living room opening onto the terrace, a dining room seating 10 and a ground floor bathroom. The well fitted kitchen has a gas cooker, microwave, large fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There are 4 bedrooms; 2 doubles, one of which is en-suite and 2 twins, one of which is also en-suite. For extra sleeping, there is also a double sofa bed and 2 sprung mattress fold up beds.

The Grange: attached to the farmhouse, with a huge kitchen/living/dining area with balcony and steps down to terrace, the kitchen having gas cooker, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. There is a mezzanine over one end with a double sofa bed and single fold up bed, and 2 bedrooms; (1 double and a twin, the twin being en-suite). There is a further bathroom.

The Cottage: has a living/dining room opening onto a small terrace with a kitchen area which has a gas cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave. There is a twin bedroom and a bathroom, a further single fold up bed is available.

Guests may use the commercial washer and dryer in the laundry room which also has an iron. All properties have a hair dryer, French TV/video with tapes, radio/CD/cassette player.

The Garden: has much to offer guests, with a 12m x 6m swimming pool, south facing terraces, BBQs, boules, 'babyfoot', table tennis and badminton. Although La Bastide is primarily self catering accommodation, your hosts Ian and Jocelyn live discretely on the edge of the property and Jos will occasionally cook dinner for guests (minimum 8 persons), being an AA rosette cook "en retraite".
