Close to a
golf course overlooking a lake, riding stables and fishing, and 40 minutes
from lovely west beaches. Set in two and a half private acres
of glorious Normandy countryside and enjoying sole residency in the area
known as La Joliere (‘the pretty place’) with swimming pool and
lovely, far-reaching views on all sides.
It is tranquil and secluded, (your
nearest neighbours are just under a mile away), yet close to all
amenities. Gathemo, the nearest village with shops and a boulangerie, is 2
miles away. Two and a half miles in the other direction lies St Germain de
Tallevande with a pharmacy and a recommended auberge restaurant. The
bustling town of Vire, with shops and restaurants, cinema, theatre and
weekly market is 6 miles away.
La Joliere is spacious & light, has been restored &
renovated to a high modern standard whilst retaining period features and
beautifully furnished in a traditional manner with many antiques. We
have aimed to provide every ingredient for the comfort and enjoyment of
your holiday in the best possible surroundings. Games, videos,
books, an outdoor boules court and an indoor games room are also provided.
Enjoy the fantastic views
from the outdoor 1st floor decked area whilst enjoying a complimentary
glass of wine from the welcome hamper. Watch the sun set, the
deer emerge from the woods and our local barn owl search for his evening
takeaway.
The downstairs of La Joliere is tiled
throughout and has a paneled entrance hall with a cloakroom (wc/handbasin).
To the left of the hall is a huge
farmhouse kitchen boasting an enormous granite fireplace with a log
burning stove, farmhouse table & chairs and includes a
family-sized cooker, washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave and
French TV + highchair.
To the right of the hall is a large, comfortably furnished salon
with settees, chairs ,tables etc., English television and VCR .
French doors lead to the courtyard and garden where a barbecue is situated
next to the shaded pergola containing a large table &
chairs for outdoor dining . A gated access leads to your own
private swimming pool (8x4m) plus outdoor shower.
An oak staircase leads to the first
floor where there are two double bedrooms (one with twin beds), both with
en-suite facilities. There is also a separate toilet with a hand basin.
A second staircase leads to the upper floor where there are two double
bedrooms (both with one double bed + single bed/chair) and a separate
bathroom with bath/shower, toilet and vanity washbasin.
From the salon a staircase leads up to
the games room with snooker table, darts etc. French doors lead out
to the large open 1st floor decked area with table & chairs and
fantastic views.
La Joliere is suitable for small or
extended families with the first floor two bedrooms (both with en-suites)
being separated by a door from the second floor two bedrooms (shared
bathroom) off the games room -
affording privacy to all.
The price of
La Joliere is all inclusive. We have, ourselves, in the past
received shockingly high bills at the end of holidays which we had neither
considered nor budgeted for.
Cot & highchair are
provided as is bed linen (except for cot), towels, gas, electricity and
logs at no extra cost + cool box and beach mats for your seaside picnics.
2 car garage plus space
for more cars.
The house has electric
heating and is warm all year round.
