The historic and tranquil hill-top village of Villefranche de Lonchat
is just 4kms away with its two churches, museum, well stocked village
shop, baker, chemist and bars. It overlooks the less tranquil Lac de
Gurçon . Here one can swim from a sandy beach, windsurf, hire a pedalo and
visit several bars and restaurants. There are tennis courts and riding
stables too. Other local places to visit include:- St. Emilion, the
world-famous wine producing town is only a 15 minute drive away. Bergerac,
situated on the edge of the River Dordogne, 50 minutes drive. Castillon la
Bataille, hosts an elaborate reconstruction of the last battle of the one
hundred year old war which marked the end of the English Aquitaine, 20
minutes drive. Montpon, a pretty market town 15 minutes drive away. St
Foy-Le-Grande a picturesque town on the banks of the great Dordogne, 30
minutes drive.
The accommodation comprises the following :
Living/Dining Area: The main entrance is situated under the wooden
canopy. This brings you into an extremely large split-level living room
and dining area. The high ceiling with exposed beams creates a very open
and spacious environment. You can relax in the comfort of our 4-piece
suite to listen to music on the Hi-Fi, watch a video of your choice on the
combination TV/Video, (there are videos available for all ages) or, simply
read at your leisure. The raised dining area has a large mahogany table
and 8 chairs for those special meals and a beautiful mahogany display
cabinet. There is access from the raised dining area to the kitchen and
vestibule, and an open, wooden staircase leads to the 4th bedroom.
Kitchen: The spacious, wood-beamed kitchen is fully fitted with
split-level electric cooker and hob, double sink, dishwasher, washing
machine, and microwave. There is an abundance of crockery, cutlery, pots
and pans.
A farmhouse table and chairs dominates the centre of the room, the perfect
place for the family meals.
Vestibule: The vestibule area has a large pool-table for your
entertainment, and access to the two double bedrooms and twin bedroom,
which has an en-suite with an extra door for shared day-time use.

Master Bedroom: This spacious double bedroom boasts a high
ceiling with exposed beams, views out onto the front terrace, garden and
pool-area, and a large en-suite with both bath, separate walk-in shower, a
washbasin and toilet.
Double Bedroom: This 2nd double bedroom provides a cosy
atmosphere with a beautifully exposed stone wall containing a small niche.
This room also looks out onto the front terrace, garden and pool-area. The
en-suite has shower, washbasin and toilet.
Twin Bedroom: This bedroom looks out onto the back courtyard
and it's en-suite, with shower, wash-basin, toilet, is the one which
doubles as a day-time facility.
Upper Floor: The fourth bedroom, which is accessible from the
dining-area via the wooden-feature open staircase is fully carpeted, has
twin beds, en-suite with toilet and wash basin, situated under the
wonderfully restored eaves. This original hay loft conjures up an
atmosphere of former French rural life, now re-designed for your comfort.
There is also a child-safe window overlooking the front terrace, garden
and pool area.
External Features: The wood-beamed canopy area has tastefully
restored crazy-paved terracing, which match both front and back patio
areas. This is the perfect setting for shade, a relaxing BBQ, a game of
pool, or, the place to enjoy wealth of tastes of the regions' famous
wines.
The pool, which is heated when the weather is chilly, has Roman
steps into it and is surrounded by a large patio area. It is set in the
private, secured garden which has many well-established and unusual trees,
providing a frame for this wonderfully relaxing setting. There is parking
immediately in front of the house.
The property will be available for occupation on the take over day at 4
o'clock in the afternoon - and we would expect the guests to leave on the
outgoing morning by 10 o'clock. We ask for understanding on this point as
changeover days do involve considerable housekeeping activities and we
like to be able to present, you the client, with a pristine property. If
you have a problem with air flight timings etc, please do let us know in
advance.
