"The Old Post Office" is just
10kms. from the Mediterranean sea and 50kms. from the Spanish border, an
area rich in things to see and do. Furnished in traditional French style,
this large, comfortable house offers spacious accommodation for 10 people in
five bedrooms, two of which are en suite. All of the bedrooms are furnished
in the style of an artist or period of art, and the Monet room has double
doors leading on to the sun terrace. There are two further bathrooms, one on
the ground floor, along with one of the bedrooms, making it a good choice
for physically disadvantaged people. The large salon is well furnished, having French TV and video, with a small library of films. The well equipped kitchen has an open fireplace and BBQ, dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge, microwave, oven and hob, with a huge refectory table seating 14. Through the kitchen is the garden room, furnished with another refectory table for outside dining. Steps lead from the small courtyard to the large sun terrace (above the garden room), which has ample loungers, table and chairs. The top floor of the house is given over to a huge art studio, which is available for the purpose of painting at a separate rent from the house, when not in use for painting holidays. Painting Holidays (open to non-painters) are available at an all inclusive price, offering airport/rail transfers, and full board, and your hosts, Brenda and John, will extend you a warm welcome. John is best know for his paintings for the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club at Wimbledon, for whom he has worked since 1985, and his paintings can be seen in galleries and private collections throughout the world.
Enjoy painting
during the morning either in the studio or around the village or
vineyards, with afternoons free to use as you please, meeting again later to
plan the following day. Gastronomic cuisine is served around the huge table,
offering the opportunity for lively discussion on the days' events, art,
life and the universe or whatever takes your fancy. All meals, wine, beer,
soft drinks, tea and coffee are included in the cost of your holiday, as is
a meal in a Michelin recommended restaurant. |
